The Soul of Japan, For Your Walls.

Original indigo ink art — designed in Tokyo, crafted for modern American homes.

The Brand Concept

AO is my personal project to share the quiet beauty of Japan with the world. From my home studio in Tokyo, I create abstract art that blends traditional techniques — like the meditative hues of Sumi-e ink wash — with modern, everyday inspiration. Blue is at the heart of everything I make. In Japan, this deep, calming color has long been woven into our daily lives and spiritual landscape. It is the color of the sea that surrounds us, and the indigo threads of our history. Through these soulful shades of blue, I aim to bring a sense of clarity and peace to your living space.

My approach is guided by "Ma" — the Japanese philosophy of finding beauty in empty space. It's about discovering calm within the complexity of everyday life, and carrying that feeling into your home.

Meet the Artist

Hi, I'm Ken.

I was born and raised in Japan, and my journey with design started early. After high school, I moved to the United States to study graphic design — spending four and a half years learning to see the world through a lens of art, balance, and visual storytelling. It gave me a fresh perspective on my own Japanese roots that I carry with me to this day.

When I returned to Japan, life took a different path. I've spent the last 15 years working in the IT industry — but design never left me. It was
always there, waiting for the right moment.

AO is that moment.

Each piece is something I personally create in my home studio, in the hours between work and rest — blending my design background withthe Japanese aesthetics I grew up with. I hope my work brings a little of that Japanese serenity into your home, just as it does into mine.
